The Project

On September 20 and 21, 2014, the New City Library in conjunction with Eileen McAdam of the Sound and Story Project of the Hudson Valley and with support from the Library Association of Rockland County conducted 13 oral history interviews with residents of Rockland County. In 2015 we continued the project with an Outreach grant from the Ramapo Catskill Library System which provided training and equipment to conduct professional oral history interviews as well as a series of listening programs featuring clips from the interviews.

We received a donation of 4 Veterans History Interviews (Alan Moskin, Frank Morea, Craig Wertheim and Barry Fixler) from David Kaminski of Clarkstown North who had worked on a project with students in conjunction with Rockland Independent Living Center.  In 2016 we received the Adult Program of the Year from the Ramapo Catskill Library System for Share Listen Learn, a series of listening programs that features clips from the oral histories.  You can listen to many of these clips on our Soundcloud.
